Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ground Guru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chong Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ground Guru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chong Li!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li looks to land a right hand but Guru moved out of range.
Li throws a sloppy head kick and Guru moves out of range easily.
Li misses with a wild combination.
Li misses with a two punch combination.
Guru tries for a takedown but Li sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Li looks to land a combination. Guru sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Li tries to bum rush Guru with a series of wild strikes but Guru uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Li fails to land with a series of punches.
Guru slips a jab from Li.
Li tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No joy there for Li, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Guru is trying hard to land a takedown here. Li sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Li misses with a series of wild punches.
Li throws a nice looking combination but Guru bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Li throws a head kick but Guru moves out of range.
Li tries a head kick but it misses.

Chong Li is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

No luck for Guru with that takedown attempt.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Guru passes Li's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Guru misses with a head shot. Li uses the momentum to regain guard.

Guru seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Li does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Guru is stalling here. Li is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Guru seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Li has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Guru looks to move to half guard but instead Li has passed into mount! Damn!
Guru tries to hold on but Li pushes him away.
Guru is wriggling around trying to escape.
Li is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Guru is desperately trying to improve his position but Li has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Li is looking to stand but Li has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ground Guru will probably get the nod.

Guru shoots in looking for a takedown but Li manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Guru's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Chong Li seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Guru shoots in and gets a takedown into Li's guard.
Guru won't allow Li to get back to his feet.

Guru drops back, looking for a kneebar! Li looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Li looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Li!
Guru is trying to improve his position.

Guru tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Li presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Guru is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ground Guru overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Guru bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Guru throws an elbow that misses. Li uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Guru's guard. Nice move by Li!
Guru looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Li puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Li wants to stand up but Guru is controlling the position.

Guru trying to control from the bottom.
Guru tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Li has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Guru is looking to improve his position but Li isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Guru wants to hold on but Li pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ground Guru will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Guru fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Li fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Guru looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Li throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Guru dives in and scores a takedown into Li's guard.

Guru drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Li manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Guru has Li in his guard.
Li wants to get up but he can't break Guru's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Guru isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Li stacks Guru on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Li!

Li decides to stand back up.
Guru fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Li avoids it really well and circles away.
Ground Guru is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Guru takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Ground Guru has been cut.
Li throws a head kick but Guru moves out of range.

Li lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Li throws a sloppy head kick and Guru moves out of range easily.
Li scores with a one two! Guru had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Chong Li seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Guru tries to score a power double leg takedown but Li sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Guru somewhat.
Li misses with the combination.
Li throws a series of punches but Guru moves out of range.
Li throws a jab but it's blocked by Guru.
Li throws a right and a left that Guru avoids nicely.
Guru showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Li.
Chong Li has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Li will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Li tries a head kick but it misses.
Ground Guru is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Guru shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Guru is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guru trying to control the position from guard on top but Li is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chong Li comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Guru has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
