Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Karl Istaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rila Kuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuma has chosen Teach me how to Daugie as his entrance music. Karl Istaz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Istaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rila Kuma! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Istaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Istaz takes a shot right to the bread basket. Istaz throws a half hearted mid kick. Kuma shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Istaz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Kuma looking to pass the guard. Istaz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kuma is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Istaz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Istaz has his foot on Kuma's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kuma works his way back into a safe position though. Istaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuma controlling from the top position. Kuma trying to control the position from guard on top but Istaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kuma drops back looking for a leg! Istaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Istaz manages to kick Kuma off! Kuma jumps back into Istaz's guard. Kuma is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Istaz trying to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rila Kuma was stalling too much, according to the referee. Istaz takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Istaz throws a sloppy head kick and Kuma counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Istaz's guard now. Kuma advances to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Istaz is trying to maintain the position but Kuma is very close to passing his half guard. Kuma thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Istaz's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Istaz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kuma. Kuma wants to take a breather but Istaz is having none of it. Kuma passes to full mount! Istaz is in a horrible position here. Kuma smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Istaz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Kuma get's back to his feet. Kuma tests Istaz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Istaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Kuma fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kuma moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A lazy body kick from Istaz and Kuma counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kuma scores with a jab to the body. Kuma dives in and grabs Istaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Istaz pushes down on Kuma's head and hops out. Karl Istaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed right hand from Istaz misses the target. Istaz throws a combination that misses and Kuma counters with a two punch combo. Kuma throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Istaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kuma scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Istaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kuma was well out of range. Poor timing from Istaz. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Istaz throws a right and a left that Kuma avoids nicely. Istaz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kuma to score an easy takedown into full guard. Istaz looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kuma has picked Istaz up and slammed him! Istaz can't keep hold of the triangle and Kuma manages to pass to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rila Kuma dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Istaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kuma scores with a takedown into Istaz's guard. Istaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kuma gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kuma throws a strike but Istaz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kuma tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rila Kuma has got the better of the ground game so far. Istaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Istaz looking to sit in guard and control but Kuma gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Istaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kuma advances position into side control! Kuma grinds an elbow into Istaz's temple. Kuma lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Istaz down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kuma has knee on belly and moves into mount. Kuma controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Istaz wants to hold on but Kuma pushes him away. Kuma gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Istaz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kuma connects with a crisp jab. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Istaz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Istaz throws a leg kick and Kuma counters with a lovely straight right hand! Istaz misses with a jab to the body
and Kuma counters with a stiff right hand. Kuma ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Istaz throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Kuma counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuma changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Istaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kuma scoring with punches and elbows. A lull in the action here as Kuma stalls from top position. Check out the look on Kuma's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Istaz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Istaz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kuma trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kuma landing strikes from the mount and Istaz is in trouble!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kuma working away from the top, dropping strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kuma content just to control the position here. Kuma putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Kuma has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Istaz's face.
Istaz tries to reverse the position but Kuma maintains control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kuma looking to control and managing it successfully. Kuma has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kuma in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rila Kuma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Kuma shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Istaz as he avoids it easily. Kuma blocks a head kick by Istaz.
An inside leg kick from Istaz misses. Kuma clobbers Istaz with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Istaz lands a front kick. Kuma bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Istaz's head backwards. Istaz on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Kuma takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kuma checks a leg kick. Kuma ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rila Kuma seems to be getting the better of the standup. Istaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kuma counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Istaz thumps Kuma with a low kick. Kuma dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Istaz throws a combination that misses and Kuma counters with a straight right hand. Kuma scores with a jab. Istaz acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Kuma lands a jab to Istaz's midsection. Kuma scores with a nice right hand.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kuma. A jab from Kuma finds it's way through Istaz's defenses. Istaz misses with a kick to the body.
Istaz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Kuma scores with a shot to the body.
Istaz tries to sprawl but Kuma drives through with a takedown into half guard. Istaz wants to control but Kuma is keeping busy and won't allow it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Istaz wants to control but Kuma passes into side.
Rila Kuma is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Istaz is looking to regain half guard here but Kuma keeps moving and retains side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kuma wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Istaz, who protects the arm well. Kuma trying to control the action but Istaz is working from the bottom. Istaz on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuma controls the position from side control. Istaz wants to control but Kuma postures up. Istaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kuma working the ground and pound but Istaz is defending the strikes. Kuma stands up. Istaz throws a series of punches but Kuma moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Istaz misses with a hook. Karl Istaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Istaz throws the kick towards the body but Kuma avoids it. Istaz throws a sloppy head kick and Kuma cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kuma connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Kuma thuds his shin into the meat of Istaz's side. Istaz misses with a low kick.
Kuma uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Karl Istaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Istaz lands with a kick to the temple. Kuma shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Karl Istaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kuma dives in and scores a takedown into Istaz's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kuma stands and steps away. Istaz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Istaz throws a front kick aimed at Kuma's knee but Kuma avoids it well.
And that's the end of the fight! Rila Kuma comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kuma has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
