Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Brewster Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Haze! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haze bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Haze controlling from side mount. Haze throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Haze goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Burns rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Haze's guard! Nice work there by Burns! Burns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Haze is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burns defends well. Burns showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Burns has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Haze working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Haze working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Burns has passed into half guard!
Burns content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haze wants to improve his position but Burns is controlling well.
Haze scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Burns manages to mount him!
Burns controlling his opponent. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Haze can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brewster Burns has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Haze throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Burns was covering up waiting for the punch and Haze finishes the takedown easily into guard. Haze trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haze is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Haze trying to control but Burns is working from the bottom. Haze throws a big right hand that misses. Haze working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Haze wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Haze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Haze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Haze is looking to work some ground and pound but Burns has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haze shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burns manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Haze tries to free his leg and advance position but Burns is retaining full guard. Haze throws a big elbow that misses. Haze is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Burns working a defensive guard here.
Haze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burns swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burns managing to control the position. Burns utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Burns has a closed guard, preventing Haze from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haze throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Haze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Haze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Burns controlling Haze's posture. Danny Haze has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns controls Haze momentarily but Haze frees himself. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Haze loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Haze pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burns is keeping the position for now. Haze trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haze wants to pass the guard but Burns is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burns keeping moving, preventing Haze from controlling successfully. Burns preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Haze wants to pass the guard but Burns is keeping the position. Haze must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Haze changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burns looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Haze is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haze tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Haze goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Burns rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Haze's guard! Nice work there by Burns! Burns showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Burns's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Danny Haze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Haze shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burns's guard. Burns keeping moving, preventing Haze from controlling successfully. Haze makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Haze is pushing down on Burns's leg trying to pass to half guard. Burns is fighting to maintain full guard but Haze has managed to sneak the leg through. Haze trying to control from Burns's half guard. Burns has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Haze throwing strikes from guard but Burns blocks nicely. Burns looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Burns is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Haze throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Haze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Haze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burns works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Haze looking to pass the guard. Burns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haze wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving. Haze drops back looking for a leg! Burns is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burns manages to kick Haze off! Haze jumps back into Burns's guard. Haze takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Haze pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burns is keeping the position for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Haze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Burns on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Haze looks to land a strike but Burns avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Haze looking to pass the guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burns holds on and takes a little breather.
And that's the end of the fight! Danny Haze comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Haze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
