Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Zhukov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shirahama comes to the cage accompanied by Fade To Black. Zhukov has chosen Russian Army Choir - National Anthem of the Russian Federation as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ivan Zhukov! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zhukov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Shirahama moves out of range of the body kick. Zhukov throws out a leg kick but Shirahama moves out of range and Zhukov only half commits. Shirahama swinging wildly here.
Zhukov throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Shirahama shoots in and drives through. Zhukov sprawls well. Shirahama blocks the body kick.
Shirahama avoids a punch combination nicely.
Zhukov connects with a solid leg kick. Shirahama fakes the leg kick and cracks Zhukov in the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zhukov thows a body shot but no joy. Zhukov throws a front kick aimed at Shirahama's knee but Shirahama avoids it well. Zhukov moves out of range of the body kick. Good exchange - Shirahama coming out on top. Nice takedown defense from Zhukov. No joy for Shirahama on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenichi Shirahama. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shirahama thows a leg kick but Zhukov checks it and Zhukov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Zhukov connects with a leg kick. Shirahama looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Shirahama avoids the head kick by Zhukov.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shirahama takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Shirahama avoids a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zhukov throws a leg kick and Shirahama counters with a thumping low kick. Zhukov wants to land a leg kick but Shirahama is out of range. Shirahama misses with a head kick.
Shirahama on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Shirahama changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Zhukov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. The strikes coming from Shirahama are missing the target in this wave of attacks. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zhukov can do anything to dispel that myth. Zhukov is not content to let Shirahama control the position. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Shirahama creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Zhukov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shirahama in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Zhukov is trying to control Shirahama's posture but Shirahama avoids it. Shirahama working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Shirahama throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Sloppy strikes there by Shirahama.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shirahama in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Shirahama is trying to get an arm triangle but Zhukov is defending well. Shirahama is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Zhukov is trying to escape and Shirahama transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Zhukov is forced to tap! Nice work there by Shirahama! Very nice indeed!
