PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nefertum Imhotep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Imhotep has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Koscheck!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Imhotep gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Imhotep is breathing heavily.
Koscheck content to stall in guard here.
Koscheck wants to pass the guard but Imhotep is keeping the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Imhotep is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koscheck is pulling down on Imhotep's head. It's preventing any offense from Imhotep, at least for the moment.

Let's hope that Koscheck has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Aaron Koscheck wasn't active enough on the ground.
Imhotep tries to clinch up
and Koscheck counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Koscheck is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Imhotep is defending well.

Imhotep tries to land knees in the clinch but Koscheck avoids the damage to the body.

Koscheck cracks Imhotep with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Koscheck misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nefertum Imhotep has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Koscheck.
Imhotep closes this distance looking for a takedown but Koscheck circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koscheck is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Imhotep is just riding it out for now. Koscheck eventually gives up the hold.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aaron Koscheck was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Koscheck shoots in and drives through. Imhotep sprawls well.

Koscheck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Imhotep napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Koscheck is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Imhotep's shoulder. That is not cool.
Imhotep is looking to regain half guard here but Koscheck keeps moving and retains side control.
A lull in the action here.

Koscheck decides to stand up, so the ref orders Imhotep to his feet.

Koscheck looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Aaron Koscheck has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Koscheck prevents Imhotep from improving his position.
Koscheck moves nicely into side control.

Koscheck decides to stand back up. Koscheck steps back and let's Imhotep get back to his feet.
Koscheck wants to land a leg kick but Imhotep is out of range.
Koscheck is trying hard to land a takedown here. Imhotep sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Koscheck shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The referee warns Imhotep that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Imhotep takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Koscheck's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
