Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John McNamara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Stark! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNamara ducks down and throws a hook to the body. McNamara thows a left - swing and a miss! McNamara takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. McNamara tests Stark's chin there with a solid looking shot. McNamara misses with a series of wild punches.
Stark takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Stark ducks under a wild hook from McNamara. Stark uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McNamara. Stark throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McNamara jabs Stark to the body, keeping him at a distance. McNamara misses the shot to the body. The crowd cheers as McNamara lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stark doesn't seem phased though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McNamara misses with a body shot.
Stark on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. McNamara catches Stark with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
That's one minute gone in the round. McNamara misses the jab. Stark misses with a wild body shot. Stark displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McNamara throws out the jab. Stark slips under a jab from McNamara. McNamara lands with a good body shot. McNamara misses with a hook. Stark ducked under it nicely. McNamara lands an overhand right. McNamara fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. John McNamara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stark throws a hook to the side of McNamara's head but McNamara sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Stark blocks a jab. McNamara tries to bum rush Stark with a series of wild strikes but Stark uses good footwork to avoid the assault. McNamara misses with a wild combination.
McNamara lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McNamara swings for the body but Stark moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McNamara fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. McNamara looks to throw the jab but Stark is out of range. Stark misses the jab. McNamara cracks Stark with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. McNamara is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. McNamara throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McNamara throws a lazy right hand but Stark sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. McNamara misses with a body shot.
McNamara dips down and scores with a jab to the body. McNamara lands with a nice body punch. John McNamara is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McNamara missing with a left hand there. Stark was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Stark walks into a straight right hand from McNamara. McNamara looks to throw the jab but Stark is out of range. A slow jab from McNamara misses its intended target. McNamara throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Sloppy strikes from McNamara. Those never looked like landing. Stark scores a takedown into full mount! McNamara manages to regain half guard. Good work. Stark trying to pass the guard but McNamara defending well. Stark throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing McNamara to regain full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McNamara wants to sweep but no luck. Stark controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McNamara wriggles free and stands up. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McNamara throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fighters circling - McNamara throws out the jab but it was never going to land. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John McNamara dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

McNamara throws an overhand right that lands on Stark's shoulder, as Stark tries to avoid the shot. Stark ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. McNamara misses with an uppercut. Stark saw that one coming. McNamara throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Stark with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McNamara to score with a decent uppercut. McNamara throws a jab when Stark was well out of range. Stark closes this distance looking for a takedown but McNamara circles away. A looping hook to the body misses from McNamara. Stark does a little dance to reset his feet. Nice defenses there by Stark. McNamara misses with a looping left. McNamara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stark was well out of range. Poor timing from McNamara. Stark uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McNamara. McNamara blocks a jab. McNamara connects with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stark moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Stark avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice defenses there by Stark. A big right from McNamara misses. Stark throws a body punch but McNamara moves out of range. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McNamara!

McNamara sizes up Stark with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. This has been an exciting period of action! McNamara throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stark on the side of the head. McNamara throws a big shot that misses. Stark misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stark is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McNamara. McNamara throws a shot from downtown. Stark moves away and avoids it. McNamara stuffs the takedown attempt from Stark. Stark gets slowly back to his feet. McNamara throws a hook but Stark avoids it easily. McNamara looks to score with a jab to the body but Stark is just out of range. McNamara connects with a body shot that sends Stark's belly button to the back. John McNamara is winning the standup battle so far. McNamara looks to land a combination but Stark avoids it well. McNamara misses with a two punch combination.

Stark walks into a stiff left hand from McNamara. McNamara scores with a punch to the head. Stark shoots in looking for a takedown but McNamara manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stark's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. John McNamara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Stark.

McNamara is keeping the position for now. Stark throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McNamara works some decent striking defense from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stark controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tony Stark was stalling too much, according to the referee. Stark bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. McNamara swings for the body but Stark moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McNamara goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. A swing and a miss from Stark. McNamara misses with a two punch combination.
McNamara misses with a hook. McNamara fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. McNamara lands with a hook. Stark tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Stark looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Stark closes this distance looking for a takedown but McNamara circles away. McNamara misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stark.

and Stark connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McNamara ducks under a wild hook from Stark.

letting Stark counter with a right hand. Stark scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Stark takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Stark working away. McNamara on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McNamara tries to get out of the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McNamara is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stark trying to control the position but McNamara is working away. Stark working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stark happy to just control the position for now. McNamara wants to control but Stark postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A momentary lapse in concentration from McNamara enables Stark to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McNamara manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Stark throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McNamara works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Stark not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Stark missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Tony Stark has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stark connects with a couple of short punches. Stark pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McNamara is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McNamara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Stark has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Stark trying to control but McNamara is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Tony Stark hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Stark takes a swing at McNamara's ribcage but misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stark ducks under a wild hook from McNamara. Stark moves out of range as McNamara strikes. John McNamara is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. McNamara throws a nice looking combination but Stark bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John McNamara. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McNamara, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
