Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duggan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!. Jim Duggan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Smithers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Duggan! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smithers has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smithers slows down the pace here.
Duggan managing to block the knees to the body from Smithers.
Smithers manages to pull guard.
Duggan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Smithers closes the distance and clinches. Smithers decides to pull guard. Duggan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smithers is trying to improve his position. Smithers is working hard here to advance position. Duggan trying to control the position but Smithers is working away. Smithers struggling a bit here. Duggan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Smithers tries to get back to half guard but can't. Duggan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smithers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duggan wants to stand but Smithers has his arm trapped. Smithers is trying to improve his position. Duggan decides to stand back up. Duggan tries to clinch but fails miserably and Smithers counters with a nice double leg into guard. Smithers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Duggan is trying to keep Smithers in close.
Smithers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Duggan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smithers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smithers trying to control but Duggan is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Duggan trying to strike off his back.
Duggan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Smithers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Duggan looks gassed! Smithers looking to pass the guard. Smithers trying to control the position from guard on top but Duggan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smithers preventing the sweep. Smithers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Duggan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Smithers landing some decent shots from guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Duggan keeping full guard, as Smithers tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duggan wants to sweep but no luck.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. No joy there for Duggan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Duggan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Duggan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. The fight moves into the clinch position. Smithers stalls. Duggan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smithers blocks it with crossed arms. Smithers has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Duggan regains guard immediately. Smithers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Smithers wants to pass the guard but Duggan is keeping the position. Duggan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Duggan is on top in guard.
Duggan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smithers is letting Duggan control him for a moment. Smithers tries to improve position but can't. Duggan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smithers has escaped the position, nice work there. Duggan is looking to take a break and control but Smithers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Duggan decides to stand back up. Duggan steps back and let's Smithers get back to his feet. Smithers closes the distance and clinches. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Duggan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smithers has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A right handed body shot lands from Smithers.
Smithers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smithers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Smithers wants to sweep here but Duggan controlling him for the moment. Smithers looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jim Duggan will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Smithers moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Duggan misses with a right hand and Smithers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Duggan manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Duggan striking from his own guard. Duggan wants to sweep here but Smithers controlling him for the moment. Duggan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smithers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Duggan looking for a sweep. Not yet Duggan, not yet. Duggan trying to keep a closed guard but Smithers is proving a slippery customer.
Duggan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Duggan wants to stand up but Smithers is controlling him. Duggan tries to land a sweep but no joy. Duggan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smithers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smithers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smithers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smithers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smithers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Smithers has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Duggan to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Smithers is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Duggan pulls down on the head and he's put Smithers to sleep! This one is all over!
