PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Davenport (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Goldsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davenport comes to the cage accompanied by Ready for the Fight. Goldsmith has chosen Dos Equis as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Davenport!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Goldsmith!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldsmith darts in trying to clinch
and Davenport counters with a good low kick that Goldsmith was not able to check.
Goldsmith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Goldsmith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Davenport is looking to escape.
Goldsmith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Davenport does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Goldsmith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davenport was covering up waiting for the punch and Goldsmith finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thomas Davenport.
Well Goldsmith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
