Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tran Ngoc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ngoc's entrance music is Dirt Room-Blue October. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ngoc circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ngoc.
Sloppy strikes from Silva. Those never looked like landing.
Silva throws a head kick but Ngoc moves out of range.
Ngoc has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Tran Ngoc has been cut.
Ngoc throws a one two combo.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ngoc closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Silva tries to sprawl but Ngoc drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ngoc is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ngoc got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ngoc has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Silva throws a series of punches but Ngoc avoids them all with ease.
Silva shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ngoc eats them both and turns towards Silva to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Ngoc dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Tran Ngoc is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva tries a head kick but it misses.

Ngoc manages to break the clinch.

Ngoc will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Ngoc counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Derrick Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ngoc moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Ngoc shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ngoc has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ngoc thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ngoc doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ngoc manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Good control from Ngoc.
Silva breaks Ngoc's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ngoc kicks Silva off and gets to his feet.

Ngoc shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ngoc shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
