PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Newcomer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Sproles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newcomer comes into the arena with Voices at the Crossroads by K'Naan blaring out of the sound system. Sproles has chosen Drones as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jesse Newcomer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newcomer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sproles connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

The fight stays on the outside here - Newcomer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Newcomer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sproles should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesse Newcomer will probably get the nod.

Sproles goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Newcomer has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sproles but great work by Newcomer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brian Sproles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sproles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
