The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams stalks Shelter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Shelter's face. Shelter staggers backwards, shaken. Shelter buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shelter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Williams swats him away and circles back towards the center. Shelter is looking to clinch. Shelter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Williams did well to prevent Shelter getting side control. Williams looking for submissions off his back. Williams looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shelter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Williams won't allow Shelter to pass to mount. Shelter wants to take a breather but Williams is having none of it. Williams is trying is best to control the position here. Williams is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shelter trying to mount his opponent but Williams defends it. Shelter wants to work for an arm triangle but Williams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Williams is trying to get back to full guard. Shelter wants to take a breather but Williams is having none of it. Shelter is looking to advance position but Williams won't allow it. Williams is staying active underneath Shelter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Anderson Shelter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Shelter tries to roll over but Williams keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shelter keeps working. Shelter trying to hold on to Williams's head to control him but Williams postures up.
