Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rich Convex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Materson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Convex comes to the cage accompanied by Jester. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mike Materson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Rich Convex! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Materson! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters circling a little - Materson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Convex ducks right into an uppercut from Materson. Materson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Materson stuns Convex with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Materson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Convex eats them both and turns towards Materson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Materson wants to clinch up but Convex keeps it at a distance. Convex avoids the head kick by Materson.
Materson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Convex manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mike Materson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Convex dodges the punch combination from Materson.
Materson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Materson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Convex blocks a head kick by Materson.
Convex tries for a takedown but Materson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Materson tries to clinch but Convex is having none of it. Materson stuffs the takedown attempt from Convex. Convex gets slowly back to his feet. Materson throws a head kick but Convex moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Materson fails in his attempt to clinch. Materson connects with a high kick. Materson cracks a nice hook into Convex's ribs. Danga de danga de dang - Materson scores with a four punch combination! Convex will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Materson fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Convex decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Materson's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Convex is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Convex pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Materson is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materson wants to stand and escape but Convex is having none of it. Materson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Materson tries to clinch but Convex is having none of it. No luck for Convex with that takedown attempt. Materson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Materson digs a good hook to Convex's body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Materson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Materson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Convex swats away the attempt to clinch by Materson. Convex misses with a takedown attempt - Materson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Materson throws a body punch but Convex moves out of range. Convex avoids a punch combination nicely.

Convex postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Materson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Convex, into his guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Convex is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Materson defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Materson wants to stand but Convex is controlling his posture from full guard. Materson stands up and waves to Convex to follow him. A combination from Materson does no damage.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Materson throws a head kick that misses. Materson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Materson throws a series of punches but Convex avoids them all with ease. Materson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Convex keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Mike Materson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Convex looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Materson has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Convex tries to pull guard but Materson holds him up against the cage and eventually Convex drops back down to his feet.
Convex prevents Materson from breaking the clinch. Materson is trying to break the clinch but Convex has him pressed against the cage. Convex fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Convex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Materson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mike Materson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Convex might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Convex tries to free his leg and advance position but Materson is retaining full guard. Materson wants to stand up but Convex is controlling him. Convex is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Materson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Convex off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Materson throws a right hand that Convex ducks under and follows up with a left that Convex also avoids with ease. Materson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Materson is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Convex rather than just go for the knockout. Materson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Materson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Convex manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Materson tries to clinch up. A clash of legs there as Convex blocks the low kick. A nice leg kick lands there from Materson. Convex circles away from the clinch attempt and Convex counters with a flying knee. Nice. Convex fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Materson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Convex is able to avoid easily. Convex fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Convex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Materson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Convex. Materson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Convex closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Convex lands in his opponent's guard. Convex drops back looking for a leg! Materson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Materson manages to kick Convex off! Convex jumps back into Materson's guard. Materson is looking to stand up but Convex isn't so interested in that idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Convex drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Materson dives on top into guard. Convex has a closed guard, preventing Materson from standing up. Rich Convex overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Materson gets to his feet - Convex follows without any prompting. A low kick from Materson misses so Convex counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rich Convex has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Convex tries to free his leg and advance position but Materson is retaining full guard. Convex drops back, looking for a kneebar! Materson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Materson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Materson! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Materson wants to stand but Convex is controlling his arm. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Materson tries to stand but Convex controls the position and pulls Materson into his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rich Convex. I think Materson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
