1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Theodore Sturgeon! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hakala shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sturgeon's guard. Hakala passes Sturgeon's left leg - he's now in half guard. Sturgeon is defending against the submission attempts here by Hakala.
Sturgeon is trying to get back to full guard. Hakala is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sturgeon defends it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sturgeon trying to hold on to Hakala's head to control him but Hakala postures up.

Hakala trying to control but Sturgeon is working from the bottom. Sturgeon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hakala defends it easily. Sturgeon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hakala looking to pass the guard. Hakala trying to control the position from guard on top but Sturgeon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sturgeon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hakala. Sturgeon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hakala stands and throws Sturgeon's legs to the side, diving into side control. An elbow from Hakala crashes against the mat.
Hakala moves into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hakala has hold of Sturgeon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sturgeon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hakala has isolated one of Sturgeon's arms. Sturgeon looking to fight him off but Hakala twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
