Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Luis Barrera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cato Reid! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reid takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Reid doesn't manage to clinch there - Barrera circles away.
Reid missing with a left hand there. Barrera was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A punch combination from Reid misses. Reid uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Barrera. Nice defenses there by Reid. Barrera misses with a looping right. Barrera slips a jab and a cross from Reid.
Barrera lands a right hook to the body.
Reid looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Reid showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Barrera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barrera striking off his back but it's not causing Reid any problems.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reid stops Barrera from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reid stays in close to Barrera's body and controls the position. Barrera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Reid passes Barrera's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Barrera tries to kick Reid off in order to stand up. Reid Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Reid is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barrera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Barrera is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reid thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Barrera is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Reid throws a strike aimed at the side of Barrera's head but Barrera avoids it well. Reid tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Barrera is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Reid is controlling him well. Reid working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrera manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Reid looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Barrera manages to escape and get back to his feet! Reid takes one to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barrera throws a lazy right hand but Reid sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Some wild striking there from Reid.
Barrera throws a looping overhand right but Reid ducks down to avoid it. Barrera throws a right hand that Reid ducks under and follows up with a left that Reid also avoids with ease. Reid misses with a takedown attempt - Barrera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Barrera looks to land a left hand but Reid moved out of range nicely. Reid walks into a left hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barrera misses with a body shot.
Luis Barrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barrera looks to throw the jab but Reid is out of range. Reid shoots in and drives through. Barrera sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barrera closes the distance and lands a one-two. Barrera drops his hands momentarily and Reid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Barrera is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Barrera throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Barrera misses with a two punch combination.

Barrera tries to move into range but Reid moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. A slow jab from Barrera misses its intended target. Barrera cracks Reid with an open hand slap. Reid tries to clinch up. Reid fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Luis Barrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cato Reid. Reid shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Barrera eats them both and turns towards Reid to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Luis Barrera is winning the standup battle so far. Reid shoots in but no luck this time. Barrera throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Reid moves out of range as Barrera strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrera looks to land a right hand but Reid moved out of range. Reid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barrera is fending him off so far but Reid persists. Nope, Barrera circles away and we're back to standing. Barrera throws a leg kick but Reid sees it coming and checks it nicely. Reid misses with a takedown attempt - Barrera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Reid is breathing heavily. Reid walks into a left hand. Barrera throws an overhand right that lands on Reid's shoulder, as Reid tries to avoid the shot. Barrera throws a jab when Reid was well out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Reid feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Barreras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Reid is defended easily by Barrera. Barrera misses with an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrera cracks Reid with an open hand slap. Reid takes a body punch but keeps moving. Reid shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barrera pinned against the cage. Barrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Reid on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Reid is rocked! Reid misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Reid is still on wobbly legs! Can Barrera finish him? Barrera closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Reid out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Luis Barrera! Our winner, Luis Barrera, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
