Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orion Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Georgie Landis! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Cook fails to pull guard.
Landis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Cook prevents Landis from breaking the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cook. Cook pulls guard effortlessly. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Landis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cook working a defensive guard here.
Landis wants to stand but Cook is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Landis is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Cook throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Cook throwing shots but Landis is blocking nicely. Landis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cook scores with a couple of nice shots. Cook moves into full mount! Landis won't be happy about that! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cook landing strikes from the mount. Cook working Landis over with strikes here. Cook throwing strikes here but Landis is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cook is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Landis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Landis!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook wants to sweep but no luck. Cook is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Landis defends well. Landis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cook keeping moving, preventing Landis from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cook is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Landis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Georgie Landis was stalling too much, according to the referee. The fight moves into the clinch position. Landis has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Cook wants to take the fight to the mat but Landis manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cook looking to stall.

Orion Cook dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Landis closes the distance and clinches. Cook jumps guard but Landis stands there with Cook around his waist. Cook gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Landis is fighting it off but Cook persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Landis's guard against the cage. Cook throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Landis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Landis looking for a sweep. Not yet Landis, not yet. Cook stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Landis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Cook missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook drops back, looking for a kneebar! Landis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Landis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Landis! Landis is staying tight to Cook's torso, preventing him from escaping. Cook is looking to reverse the position. Landis looking to control but instead Cook has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Landis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Landis manages to pass to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Orion Cook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cook manages to reverse the position and now he's in Landis's guard. Nice work there by Cook.

Cook decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Landis taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
