Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Spat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eric Berger! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spat darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Berger looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Spat content to control rather than advance. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Berger is in trouble now - Spat has advanced to mount! Spat lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Spat controlling from the full mount. Spat pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Berger should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Spat controlling from mount. BOOM! Spat connects with a massive shot to the dome!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spat controlling the pace for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spat seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Berger for as long as he can get away with. Spat will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jack Spat has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Spat drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Berger is working an open guard so Spat takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Berger stuffs the takedown attempt from Spat. Spat gets slowly back to his feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spat. Spat changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Berger looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Berger seems a little lost for a moment, as Spat dominates the positioning. Berger takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Berger has eaten all the pies! Berger takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Berger seems a little lost for a moment, as Spat dominates the positioning. Spat has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Spat has an Americana. Berger didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Spat is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Spat hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
