PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barack Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Barack Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar rushes Pain and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lesnar pulls guard successfully.

Lesnar looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pain is one step ahead there.
Pain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lesnar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lesnar working a defensive guard here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lesnar seems keen to control Pain's posture.
Pain tries to free his leg and advance position but Lesnar is retaining full guard.
Pain is breathing heavily.

Lesnar wants to stand up but Pain is controlling him.

Brock Lesnar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lesnar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lesnar somewhat.
Lesnar looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Lesnar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pain closes the distance and clinches up with Lesnar, looking for a takedown. Pain pushes Lesnar against the cage but Lesnar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lesnar tries to close the distance and clinch but Pain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pain dives in and grabs Lesnar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes down on Pain's head and hops out.

Lesnar rushes Pain and presses him up against the cage.

Lesnar successfully pulls guard.
Pain has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lesnar manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lesnar misses with a double jab.
Barack Pain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lesnar is looking to clinch but Pain is avoiding it.
Pain shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barack Pain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pain fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Lesnar gets a takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pain tries for a takedown but Lesnar circles away easily

and Lesnar counters with a shoot takedown. Pain fights it but they end up in guard.

Lesnar wants to control from the top but Pain keeps moving.
Lesnar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lesnar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pain quickly recovers to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lesnar tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that round.
That's time! Pain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lesnar throws the kick towards the body but Pain avoids it.

Lesnar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pain is looking for a sweep. Lesnar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pain is refusing to be controlled, as Lesnar sits in half guard.
Lesnar trying to pass the guard but Pain defending well.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lesnar wants to control but Pain is keeping him busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pain gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lesnar to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brock Lesnar wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lesnar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lesnar moves into the clinch.

Lesnar jumps guard and drags Pain to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lesnar has his foot on Pain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pain works his way back into a safe position though.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lesnar is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lesnar content to stall in guard here.

Pain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lesnar wants to get up but he can't break Pain's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Lesnar passes to side control.
Pain stops Lesnar from passing to mount.

Lesnar is looking to take a break and control but Pain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lesnar decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Pain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lesnar has Pain pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lesnar pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pain tumbling to the mat - Lesnar dives into Pain's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lesnar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pain's guard.
Lesnar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Lesnar tries to free his leg and advance position but Pain is retaining full guard.
Lesnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Pain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lesnar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Pain fails with the takedown.
Sloppy strikes from Lesnar. Those never looked like landing.

Lesnar tries to control but Pain wriggling away.
Pain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lesnar on the ground.
Lesnar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pain is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Lesnar trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lesnar gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

And that's the end of the fight!
Brock Lesnar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lesnar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
