Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Timler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Timler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bas Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Timler!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Severn gets a double leg takedown into Timler's guard.
Severn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Timler wants to stand and escape but Severn is having none of it.
Timler keeping moving, preventing Severn from controlling successfully.
Severn is in close to Timler's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Severn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Timler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Severn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Severn could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Severn thows a huge punch but Timler dodges it nicely.

Severn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Timler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Severn.
Severn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Severn working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Severn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Severn looks to land a strike but Timler avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Severn postures up in Timler's guard and throws a big left but Timler blocks it.

Severn lands a couple of digs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Severn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Severn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Severn controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Severn throws a big elbow that misses.

Severn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Severn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Severn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Timler's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Severn scores with a sloppy right hand. Timler should have avoided that one.

enabling Severn to counter with a crisp jab.

and Severn counters with a left to the body.
Timler takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Severn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Timler looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Timler is breathing heavily.
Severn throws a series of punches but Timler avoids them all with ease.
Timler wants to clinch but Severn slips to the side
enabling Severn to counter with a crisp jab.

Timler looks to clinch
and Severn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Timler closes the distance but Severn moves to the side
and Severn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Severn lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Timler has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Timler and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Timler moves to clinch but Severn breaks away
and Severn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Timler drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Severn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Severn counters with a stiff right hand.
Severn lands a glancing blow to the side of Timler's head.
Severn scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Timler on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Severn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Timler backs up against the cage.
Severn's corner calls for a 1-2. Severn obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Timler gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Severn lands a jab-cross combination.
Severn connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Timler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Severn manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Timler on his heels. He'll look to pass Timler's guard now, I'm sure.
Severn passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Severn is working Timler over with some ground and pound from side control.

Severn creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Severn creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Timler sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Severn working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Severn is staying tight to Timler's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Severn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Severn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The crowd cheers as Severn lands an impressive looking overhand right. Timler doesn't seem phased though.

Timler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Severn is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Timler is defending well for now.

Severn lands a big shot there that rocks Timler but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Severn cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
