PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thindra Hansson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thindra Hansson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Sampson!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson catches Hansson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hansson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Sampson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hansson pinned against the cage. Hansson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Sampson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Sampson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hansson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sampson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Hansson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sampson's waist but Sampson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hansson off to one side.

Hansson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sampson sprawls well. Sampson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hansson gets slowly back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hansson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sampson was covering up waiting for the punch and Hansson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sampson pulls Hansson in close to his closed guard and prevents Hansson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Sampson gets caught napping as Hansson dives in and scores a takedown. Sampson manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hansson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sampson has his foot on Hansson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hansson works his way back into a safe position though.
Thindra Hansson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hansson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sampson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sampson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hansson is controlling him.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Sampson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Sampson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hansson, up you get!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thindra Hansson.

Sampson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hansson circles away quickly and effectively.
Hansson tries for a takedown but Sampson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hansson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hansson dives in and grabs Sampson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sampson pushes down on Hansson's head and hops out.

Sampson feints a jab promting Hansson to slip. Sampson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hansson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thindra Hansson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
