Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brock Ransel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Koscheck!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Ransel. No joy for Koscheck on that attempt.
Ransel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ransel fails with a takedown attempt.
Koscheck gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ransel counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Aaron Koscheck has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Koscheck is defended easily by Ransel.
Brock Ransel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Koscheck.
Koscheck doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Ransel counter with a right hand.

Koscheck stops Ransel from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ransel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Koscheck defends it nicely.

Koscheck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ransel napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Koscheck is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ransel is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Koscheck is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ransel's shoulder. That is not cool.
Koscheck is looking to take a break and control but Ransel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Koscheck advances to full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koscheck can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ransel is looking to escape.
Ransel sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Ransel wants to get back to his feet.
Koscheck is just content to waste time from the top position. Ransel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Ransel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Koscheck is controlling him.

Ransel pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aaron Koscheck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koscheck leaves Ransel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Koscheck scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Koscheck is trying to trip Ransel. He has hold of a leg but Ransel is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Koscheck persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Koscheck wants to control from the top but Ransel keeps moving.
Koscheck throws a big elbow that misses.

Ransel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Koscheck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ransel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ransel looking to sit in guard and control but Koscheck gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Aaron Koscheck has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ransel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Koscheck is controlling him.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ransel pushes Koscheck off and gets back to his feet.
Koscheck shoots in for a takedown but Ransel shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brock Ransel will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Ransel gets tackled into the cage by Koscheck. Koscheck maintains the clinch.
Koscheck changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ransel fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Ransel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Koscheck throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Koscheck managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ransel.

Ransel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Koscheck takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Koscheck can't do much from the bottom here.

Koscheck stops Ransel from passing to mount.
Ransel has knee on belly momentarily but Koscheck bucks him off and regains half guard.
Ransel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Koscheck's head.
Koscheck wants to improve his position but Ransel is controlling well.
Koscheck is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ransel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Koscheck with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Brock Ransel showed his dominance in that final round.
