Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ash Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Larson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Let the Bodies Hit the Floor kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dick Pound!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ash Larson!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pound swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pound wants to clinch but Larson slips to the side

and Larson counters by moving into the clinch.
Larson takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Ash Larson has been cut.
Larson tries to break the clinch but Pound is controlling the position.

Pound successfully pulls guard.
Larson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pound is keeping the position for now.
Pound has a closed guard, preventing Larson from standing up.
Larson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Larson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pound knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Larson tries to advance to mount but Pound instead regains half guard.

Larson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pound's head.
Larson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Larson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pound is looking for a sweep. Larson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pound looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Larson trying to advance position but Pound counters by regaining guard.
Larson is looking to work some ground and pound but Pound has wrist control.
Pound keeping moving, preventing Larson from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Larson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pound is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Larson clinches up against the cage.
Pound prevents the takedown attempt.
Pound tries to land a knee to the head but Larson blocks with his arms.
Larson dodges an elbow strike from Pound.
A short body shot lands from Larson as the two fighters clinch.
Pound misses with a knee strike.
Pound lands a knee to the head.
Larson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pound fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Larson instigates a clinch.

Pound misses with an elbow strike.
Pound tries a knee to the head but Larson blocks it.
Pound is breathing heavily.

Larson breaks from the clinch.

Larson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Larson gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Larson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Larson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Larson working over Pound with some ground and pound. Pound looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Larson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Larson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pound keeps working.

Larson moves into full mount! Pound won't be happy about that!
Larson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Larson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pound is looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Larson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Larson lands a heavy elbow.
Larson landing strikes from the mount and Pound is in trouble!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ash Larson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ash Larson's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Larson cracks the inside of Pound's front leg.
Pound darts in trying to clinch

and Larson counters with a takedown into side control.


Pound is rocked!
Larson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Oh Pound is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Larson in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Pound looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Larson turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ash Larson!
