The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams shoots in but Wilhelm avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wilhelm checks the leg kick.
Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wilhelm throws a head kick that misses.
Wilhelm leaves Williams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Williams throws a predictable looking body shot
and Wilhelm counters with a nice leg kick.
Williams moves out of range as Wilhelm throws a body kick.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Wilhelm counters with an inside leg kick.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Wilhelm counters with a nice low kick that buckles Williams's knee momentarily.

and Wilhelm counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Williams scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wilhelm wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Williams controlling the action here.
Williams tries to pass to full mount but Wilhelm defends it.

Williams not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wilhelm blocking the ground and pound attempt from Williams.
Williams is taking a breather. Wilhelm says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wilhelm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Williams in particular looking to stall.
Wilhelm is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Wilhelm shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Williams fails to land with a series of punches.

I would just about give that final round to James Wilhelm.
