12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Koslov! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Klichko scores with a shot to the body.
Koslov misses with a two punch combination.
Klichko throws a right hand that Koslov ducks under and follows up with a left that Koslov also avoids with ease. Koslov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Koslov tries to bum rush Klichko with a series of wild strikes but Klichko uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Koslov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Koslov is defended easily by Klichko. Klichko misses with the combination.

Koslov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee asks Koslov politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Koslov prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Klichko tries to escape but Koslov is in control. Koslov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Klichko falls off balance throwing a combination
and Koslov counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Klichko working hard to break the clinch. Klichko is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Koslov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Klichko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Klichko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Koslov takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Koslov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Klichko sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Koslov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Klichko circles away. Koslov takes a body punch but keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koslov shoots for a double leg takedown but Klichko sprawls well. He's pushed Koslov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Koslov fails with a takedown attempt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Klichko throws a combination that misses and Koslov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Koslov. Koslov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Klichko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Klichko uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Vitaliy Klichko will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Koslov or perhaps it was just good defense by Klichko which made him look bad. Klichko throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Koslov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Klichko misses with a series of wild punches.
Klichko works over Koslov's head and body with a nice combination. Koslov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Klichko defends it nicely. Klichko looks to land a combination but Koslov avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Koslov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Koslov wants to control but Klichko is keeping him busy. Klichko wants to get back to his feet. Klichko trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Koslov trying to control the action but Klichko is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koslov has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koslov looking to control and managing it successfully. Klichko wants to try and get back to his feet. Koslov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Klichko manages to avoid the submission attempt. Koslov controlling the position from side mount. Koslov works to advance to full mount. Klichko defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Igor Koslov has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Klichko squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koslov landing strikes, looking to finish! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koslov closes the distance but Klichko moves to the side and Klichko counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Koslov thinking. Klichko misses with a right hand and Koslov counters with a three punch combo that has Klichko backing up. Klichko nods at Koslov to acknowledge the strikes. Klichko throws a nice looking combination but Koslov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Koslov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Klichko keeps the fight on the outside. Klichko stuffs the takedown. Klichko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Klichko wants it to stay on the feet. Koslov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Klichko is fending him off so far but Koslov persists. Nope, Klichko circles away and we're back to standing. Nice uppercut lands for Klichko. That snapped Koslov's head back.
