Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Simon Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Vai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Simon Cole has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Cole! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Vai! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cole misses with a takedown and Vai moves into the clinch. Vai turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vai manages to end up in side control. Sloppy strikes there by Vai. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cole is not content to let Vai control the position. Vai scores with a couple of short elbows. Vai scores with punches from side control. Cole is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Vai postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cole takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Vai working the ground and pound. Vai tries to score with some ground and pound. Cole controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Cole is being controlled here. Vai misses with the ground and pound. Cole taking a bit of punishment here - Vai scoring with strikes. Vai working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Vai works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Sloppy strikes there by Vai. Vai landing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vai grinds an elbow into Cole's temple. Vai in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Cole is breathing heavily. Vai controlling the position. Vai sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Cole is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vai is looking to take a break and control but Cole is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cole is trying to buck Vai off. Vai postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cole is working to avoid the ground and pound but Vai connects with a decent elbow. Vai misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vai lands some shots froms side control.
Cole is rocked! A big shot lands for Vai! That's hurt Cole! Will he recover? Vai fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Vai! In his post fight interview, Joe Vai started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
