PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Kettey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacek Halman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. How I Could Just Kill A Man kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Thomas Kettey could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jacek Halman's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacek Halman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kettey swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Halman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Halman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kettey could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kettey shoots and misses
and Halman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kettey thinking.
Halman moves out of range of the leg kick from Kettey.
Halman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kettey moves away.
Kettey has his takedown stuffed

and Halman moves into the clinch.
Halman is pressed up against the cage. Kettey has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Halman down to the mat. Halman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas Kettey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kettey shoots in and bounces Halman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kettey is breathing heavily.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Halman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kettey is controlling him.
Kettey wants to stand but Halman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kettey throws a strike but Halman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kettey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Halman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Halman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Halman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Halman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kettey is trying to control the position but Halman postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Thomas Kettey will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Halman lands a head kick. Kettey smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Kettey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Halman doesn't manage to clinch there - Kettey circles away.

Halman fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Halman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Halman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A slapping body kick lands there for Halman.
Halman moves in looking to clinch but Kettey pushes him off.
Halman scores with a shot to the body.

Halman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Kettey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Halman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kettey back to the cage. Halman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kettey moves to clinch but Halman breaks away

and Halman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Halman lands a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Halman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Halman scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kettey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Halman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fight stays on the outside here - Halman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jacek Halman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kettey is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Halman.

Halman lands an elbow just above Kettey 's eye.

Halman goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Kettey drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Halman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Halman lands with a nice body punch.

Halman throws a head kick but Kettey moves out of range.

Halman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kettey, pushing him back against the cage.
Kettey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Halman walks away with a smile on his face. Kettey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kettey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Halman counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas Kettey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Halman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Halman tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kettey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Kettey has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

and Halman counters with a left and a right that stings Kettey.

and Halman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Halman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Halman tries to clinch but Kettey is having none of it.
Halman throws a half hearted mid kick.

Kettey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Halman as he avoids it easily.

Halman misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kettey tries to pull guard but Halman forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Halman manages to break the clinch.
Kettey shoots and misses
and Halman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacek Halman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Halman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
