Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mimura Kawaguchi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcin Pettke! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettke tries for a takedown but Kawaguchi circles away easily and Kawaguchi counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Kawaguchi stalling. Kawaguchi prevents Pettke from improving his position. Kawaguchi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pettke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kawaguchi is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawaguchi thows a huge punch but Pettke dodges it nicely.

Kawaguchi wants to pass the guard but Pettke is defending well. Kawaguchi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kawaguchi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kawaguchi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pettke. Pettke with a lazy takedown attempt and Kawaguchi counters with a shoot takedown. Pettke fights it but they end up in guard. Kawaguchi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kawaguchi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pettke looks gassed! Kawaguchi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Kawaguchi is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Kawaguchi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pettke's head.
It looks like Marcin Pettke has been cut. Kawaguchi lands a couple of elbows. Kawaguchi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawaguchi content to stall in guard here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kawaguchi cracks Pettke with a solid left hand. Kawaguchi drops back looking for a leg! Pettke is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pettke manages to kick Kawaguchi off! Kawaguchi jumps back into Pettke's guard. Kawaguchi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Kawaguchi arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Pettke's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
