Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vasyl Kondor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sammy Jackson! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson is looking to clinch. Jackson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Jackson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Jackson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jackson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kondor has him pressed against the cage. Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kondor shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jackson stuffs the takedown. Kondor fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Kondor persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kondor is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kondor is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Kondor slips a nice elbow through Jackson's hands, connecting with Jackson's forehead. Kondor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kondor working the head and body with strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth. Kondor working over Jackson with some ground and pound. Jackson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kondor connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
Jackson is rocked! Kondor will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jackson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jackson is still in real trouble! Can Kondor finish him? Kondor is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Jackson is hurt! He's hurt bad - Kondor fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Jackson from any more punishment! Congratulations to Kondor! Great finish!
