Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Happy Gilmore! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Kendall! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kendall lands a nice shot that snaps Gilmore's head back.
Kendall moves into range and clinches up with Gilmore. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kendall. Gilmore has a couple of punches blocked by Kendall.
Kendall lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gilmore or not. A hook to the body from Kendall.
Kendall presses Gilmore against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Kendall lands on the inside with an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kendall scores with a shot to the side of Gilmore's head. Gilmore throws a punch but it's blocked by Kendall. Gilmore is trying to maintain a safe position but Kendall gets an underhook and turns Gilmore into the cage. Kendall manages to break the clinch.
Gilmore tries a head kick but it misses.
Gilmore tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Gilmore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kendall manages to avoid it. Gilmore missing with a left hand there. Kendall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A leg kick checked by Gilmore. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kendall, as that shot connected.
Kendall throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gilmore's head. Kendall lands a nice looking kick to the body. Gilmore takes a step back to recover. Gilmore is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilmore takes a body punch but keeps moving. Kendall connects with a solid leg kick. A jab lands there for Kendall. Kendall lands a nice looking body shot.
Kendall lets loose with a powerful body kick. Gilmore will feel that in the morning. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gilmore sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Happy Gilmore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kendall throws a head kick but Gilmore moves out of range.
Kendall turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kendall's corner calls for a 1-2. Kendall obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kendall connects with a leg kick. Gilmore looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Kendall scores with a leg kick.
Kendall feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gilmore sprawling to the canvas! Gilmore rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kendall finish him?!
Gilmore is rocked! Kendall connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Gilmore to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Kendall!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Chris Kendall! Chris Kendall is the new welterweight champion! Chris Kendall gave a mention to PRIME DESIGNS in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
