PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Sorali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Blangko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rico Blangko was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Sorali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rico Blangko!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorali slaps away a takedown attempt from Blangko, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Blangko tries to clinch up but Sorali circles away and keeps his distance.
Blangko goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Blangko walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Blangko throws a nice head kick!
Blangko connects with an inside leg kick.
Blangko misses with a wild combination.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Blangko!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Blangko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sorali did well to prevent Blangko getting side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Blangko throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Blangko is trying to control the action in half guard but Sorali is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Blangko is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sorali!

Sorali trying desperately to get to his feet.
Blangko punching from mount but Sorali doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Sorali is in a horrible position here. Blangko smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Blangko lands with some strikes.

Blangko unloads with some shots from mount but Sorali bucks and avoids them well.
Sorali avoids a series of strikes thrown by Blangko.
Blangko scoring with strikes but Sorali is staying in there.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Blangko cracks Sorali with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Blangko lands with some strikes.
Blangko throws some wild stikes that Sorali manages to avoid easily.

Blangko looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Sorali avoids a series of strikes thrown by Blangko.

Blangko wants to control the pace but Sorali is squirming around nicely.
Sorali could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sorali is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Blangko lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Sorali might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Blangko thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Blangko looking to ground and pound but Sorali is blocking nicely.
Blangko connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Blangko sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Blangko trying to control but Sorali is having none of it.

Blangko is working for a guillotine from mount but Sorali frees his head quite easily.

Blangko looking to secure an arm triangle but Sorali defends it well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Blangko wants to finish this one by submission but Sorali is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Blangko.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Blangko dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Blangko misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A big left from Sorali misses.
Blangko fails in his attempt to clinch.

Blangko clinches.
Sorali looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Blangko misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sorali.
Sorali has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Blangko tries to pull guard but Sorali holds him up against the ropes and eventually Blangko drops back down to his feet.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Blangko is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Sorali gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rafael Sorali has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Blangko.
Sorali is trying to break the clinch but Blangko has him pressed against the ropes.
Blangko comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Blangko goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Blangko closes the distance but Sorali moves to the side
and Sorali connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Blangko gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Blangko wants to clinch.
Rafael Sorali is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blangko tries to clinch but Sorali moves out of range.
Blangko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sorali swats away the attempt to clinch by Blangko.

A left lands for Sorali.
Blangko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Blangko tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Sorali manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sorali keeps the fight on the outside.
Sorali misses with an uppercut.
Blangko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Sorali paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Blangko is looking to clinch.
Blangko is looking to clinch but Sorali is avoiding it.
Sorali really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Blangko shoots in but no luck this time.
Sorali looks to land a right hand but Blangko moved out of range.
Blangko shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Blangko darts in trying to clinch
and Sorali counters with a straight right hand.
Blangko tries to clinch up but Sorali circles away and keeps his distance.
Blangko walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Blangko closes the distance and clinches.
Sorali managing to block the knees to the body from Blangko.
Blangko is looking to break free of the clinch but Sorali has double underhooks.
Blangko stalling in the clinch but Sorali improves position.
Blangko is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Blangko lands with a right to the head.
Blangko is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sorali is keeping busy.

Blangko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Blangko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Blangko tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Sorali manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice uppercut lands for Sorali. That snapped Blangko's head back.

Blangko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Blangko prevents Sorali from standing back up.
Blangko thows a huge punch but Sorali dodges it nicely.

Blangko thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sorali pushes Blangko off looking to stand but Blangko dives back in and keeps control.
Blangko not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Blangko is looking to take a break and control but Sorali is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Blangko thows a huge punch but Sorali dodges it nicely.
Sorali avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Blangko.
Sorali keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Blangko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sorali's head.

Sorali wants to get back to his feet.

Blangko decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Blangko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sorali swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Blangko is looking to clinch but Sorali is avoiding it.
Sorali is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Rafael Sorali has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Blangko tries to stall but Sorali uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Blangko manages to break the clinch.
Blangko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sorali circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sorali takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Rico Blangko seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Blangko shoots in but Sorali avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rico Blangko is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rico Blangko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blangko is looking to clinch but Sorali is avoiding it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Blangko seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Sorali shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Blangko is backing up but Sorali catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Blangko covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Sorali Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rafael Sorali!
Rafael Sorali opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
