Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Who Dat by Young Jeezy. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Curtis Jones! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns thows a body shot but no joy. Burns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Burns is in Jones's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Burns trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Burns is proving a slippery customer.
Burns might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Burns postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Curtis Jones. Burns shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well. Burns fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jones is out of range. Jones scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Jones lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Burns throws a right and a left that both miss. Jones scores with a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burns ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away. Burns takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jones will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

It looks like Carl Burns has been cut. Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones misses the shot to the body. Jones fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Burns has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Jones throws a shot to the body.

Burns will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Jones counters with an outside leg kick.
Burns throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it. Burns scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to chop away at Burns's legs. Burns checks a leg kick. Jones fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Burns has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Jones cracks the inside of Burns's front leg. Burns throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Burns is breathing heavily. Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Burns misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jones throws a head kick but Burns moves out of range.

Jones has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Jones drives through and clinches with Burns against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Jones with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones thumps Burns with a low kick. Jones throws a leg kick but Burns moved away. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jones.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Burns. Burns checks a low kick from Jones. Burns takes one to the side of the head.
Jones lands with a kick to the temple. Burns shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" This has been an exciting period of action! Jones throws a series of punches but Burns avoids them all with ease. Burns is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Jones lands a nice hook to Burns's body. Burns takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burns blocks a low kick nicely. Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Burns pushes him off. Jones misses with a head kick.
Burns checks a low kick from Jones. A low kick from Jones misses and Burns counters with a left to the body. Jones blocks a jab. Jones moves into range and clinches up with Burns. Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A punch combination from Jones misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a front kick aimed at Burns's knee but Burns avoids it well. A swing and a miss from Burns. Some bone on bone action there as Burns checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Curtis Jones dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carl Burns's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carl Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Burns throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Burns looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jones trying to control the position.

Burns throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Burns is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jones's half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Burns is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position. Jones actively working from the bottom here. Burns missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Jones won't allow Burns to pass to mount. Burns thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones. Burns forces his way into half guard. Jones wants to get back to full guard. Jones trying to control here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burns not landing any meaningful shots this time. Burns thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head. Burns is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jones trying to hold on to Burns's head to control him but Burns postures up.
Burns not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Carl Burns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Burns working over Jones with some ground and pound. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are battling for position here. Jones manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Burns trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones working a defensive guard but Burns passes into half guard.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jones is trying to maintain the position but Burns is very close to passing his half guard.

Now he's in guard on top. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. That was a close second round but I would say that Carl Burns will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Carl Burns's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Carl Burns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Burns circles away quickly and effectively. Burns uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.

That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burns doesn't seem phased though. A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Burns does a little dance to reset his feet. Jones throws a body punch but Burns moves out of range. Jones closes the distance and pushes Burns back into the cage. Burns is trying to maintain a safe position but Jones gets an underhook and turns Burns into the cage. Jones cracks Burns with a nice body shot. Jones looking to stall.
Burns is looking for a takedown. Jones misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Jones obliges. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jones is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Burns is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Jones's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Stalling in the clinch from Jones.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The referee calls for Jones to work.
Burns misses with the head strike.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Burns lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jones or not. Jones lands a hook to the side of the head. Burns tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. A frustrated look appears on Burns's face as he tries to break the clinch. Burns misses with a body punch.
Burns wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Burns tries to stall but Jones uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Burns misses with some punches.
Jones lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Burns blocks a body shot from Jones. Burns tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Burns drops back down to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones lands with a short head shot on the inside. Burns has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Burns.
Burns throws a head punch that misses. Jones lands a good knee to the midsection. Burns won't want to take too many of those. Jones blocking some punches.
Jones prevents Burns from breaking the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Burns turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Burns manages to end up in side control. Jones gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Burns throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely. Burns wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well. Jones works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones has Burns pulled in close to control his posture. Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Burns is one step ahead there. Burns throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Burns preventing the sweep. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones working for a triangle but Burns defends it easily.
Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burns defends well.
And that's the end of the fight! Curtis Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Curtis Jones! Curtis Jones decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
