Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, JonJ Ones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang cracks Ones with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kang keeps Ones at a distance using the push kick.
A jab from Kang finds it's way through Ones's defenses.
Kang throws a sloppy head kick and Ones moves out of range easily.
Kang fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kang scores with a kick to the midsection.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kang fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Kang scores with a hook to the body. Ones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Ones is breathing heavily.
Kang dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ones. That did some damage!
Kang scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ones tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kang stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kang darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jab, jab by Kang - just one landing.
Kang clinches up against the cage.
Kang scores with a shot to the side of Ones's head.
Ones is rocked!
Kang has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Ones - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Kang, and another! Ones is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Paulo Kang! Paulo Kang retains his middleweight title!
Paulo Kang decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
