PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fail Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Bomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bomb has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Fail Sonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Bomb!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bomb takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Nice cross by Sonnen.
Bomb ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sonnen lunges at Bomb with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bomb's hand.
A jab from Sonnen does it's job there.
Sonnen throws a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bomb is looking to clinch but Sonnen is avoiding it.
Bomb looks gassed!
Sonnen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sonnen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bomb throws a sloppy head kick and Sonnen moves out of range easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bomb. Sonnen does a little dance to reset his feet.
A big right from Sonnen misses.
Sonnen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bomb sprawls well. Bomb wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sonnen gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sonnen loads up on a big right hand but Bomb slips the punch.
Bomb throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Sonnen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bomb walks into a stiff left hand from Sonnen.
Sonnen lands a slapping body shot.
Sonnen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sonnen lands a nice shot that snaps Bomb's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sonnen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bomb leaves Sonnen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bomb drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Sonnen connects with a body shot that sends Bomb's belly button to the back.
Sonnen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bomb has time to react.
Bomb takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Sonnen keeps the fight on the outside.

Sonnen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bomb!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sonnen looking to ground and pound but Bomb is blocking nicely.

The referee warns Bomb that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Sonnen is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bomb has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Sonnen landing strikes from the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sonnen landing strikes, looking to finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bomb is squirming around, avoiding Sonnen's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sonnen breaks from Bomb's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fail Sonnen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sonnen lands a head shot.
The fighters circling - Sonnen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sonnen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bomb connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sonnen scrambles back to his feet.
Sonnen misses with a takedown attempt - Bomb sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sonnen throws a good cross that connects.
Bomb swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bomb lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A punch combination from Bomb misses.
Adam Bomb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sonnen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bomb checks it well.
Bomb is breathing heavily.
Sonnen missing with a left hand there. Bomb was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bomb blocks a jab.

A swing and a miss from Bomb.
Sonnen thows a body shot but no joy.
Sonnen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Good exchange - Sonnen coming out on top.
Sonnen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bomb can do to turn this around?
Sonnen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bomb.
Sonnen scores with a jab to the body.
Bomb takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Sonnen scores with a hook to the body. Bomb takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jab, jab by Sonnen - just one landing.
Sonnen looks to throw the jab but Bomb is out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sonnen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bomb has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bomb takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bomb blocks a jab.
Sonnen cracks Bomb with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Bomb is rocked!
Bomb loses concentration momentarily and Sonnen pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Bomb crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Sonnen finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Fail Sonnen!
Fail Sonnen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
