Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mauricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azzan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rua throws a leg kick that is checked
and Azzan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Rua throws a body punch but Azzan moves out of range.
Rua avoids the body shot from Azzan.
Azzan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Azzan wants it to stay on the feet.
Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch lands to the side of Azzan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Azzan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rua tried to score with a low kick but Azzan checks it.
Rua moves into range and clinches up with Azzan.
Azzan wants the takedown. Rua is fighting it off but Azzan persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rua's guard against the cage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Azzan manages to get himself to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rua wants to control from the top but Azzan keeps moving.

Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Azzan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rua drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Azzan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rua has Azzan in his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mauricio Rua will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A bone on bone clash there as Azzan blocks the leg kick.
Azzan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rua.
Azzan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Azzan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rua manages to avoid it.
Azzan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rua is fending him off so far but Azzan persists. Nope, Rua circles away and we're back to standing.
Azzan wants to clinch.
The fighters circling - Azzan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sloppy strikes from Azzan. Those never looked like landing.
Rua throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Azzan's waist but Azzan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rua off to one side.
Rua shoots in but no luck this time.

Rua fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Azzan avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Azzan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Azzan lands with a nice body punch.
Rua throws a hook to the side of Azzan's head but Azzan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The fight stays on the outside here - Azzan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rua looks for the body kick but Azzan saw that one coming.
Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Azzan jabs Rua to the body, keeping him at a distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Azzan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rua.

Azzan shoots in and drives through. Rua sprawls well.
Azzan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rua lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Azzan is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rua rather than just go for the knockout.
A combination from Azzan does no damage.
Rua closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Azzan quickly recovers to half guard.
Rua throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rua is looking for a kimura but Azzan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rua to get the leverage.

Rua throws a strike but Azzan avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Azzan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rua drops back, looking for a kneebar! Azzan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Azzan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Azzan!

Rua avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Azzan.
Rua is pushing Azzan's head away, looking to escape. Azzan manages to hold on to the position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Amzi Azzan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Rua. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Azzan really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Rua's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
Rua thows a strike but Azzan uses the opportunity to reverse the position! Great move by Azzan as he ends up in Rua 's guard!
