Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jacob Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Patrick Miguel! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miguel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Miguel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miguel is looking to advance position but Cannon won't allow it. Miguel frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miguel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cannon is looking to escape. Cannon avoids a series of strikes thrown by Miguel.
Miguel wants to finish this one by submission but Cannon is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Miguel. Cannon can't escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. BOOM! Miguel connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Cannon is squirming around, avoiding Miguel's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miguel landing shots from mount. Miguel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cannon is looking to escape. Poor strikes thrown by Miguel there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Miguel misses with a head shot. Cannon has given up his back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Miguel working for the choke. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Even with his hooks in, Miguel manages to miss with strikes from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cannon fending off the submission attempt from Miguel. Miguel has got one arm under Cannon's chin. This could be trouble... Cannon trying to control the other hand but Miguel gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Cannon has tapped out! The fight is over!
