1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Vladsislas Wshivtsev! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michaels scores with a three punch combo!
Wshivtsev shoots for a takedown but Michaels saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Vladsislas Wshivtsev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wshivtsev slips a jab and a cross from Michaels.
Michaels throws a low kick, looking for Wshivtsev's leg but Wshivtsev calmly moves out of range. Wshivtsev shoots for a takedown but Michaels saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Michaels closes the distance and clinches. Michaels breaks from the clinch.
Wshivtsev darts in trying to clinch and Michaels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wshivtsev's guard. Michaels stops Wshivtsev from standing up. Wshivtsev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Michaels wants to control from the top but Wshivtsev keeps moving. Wshivtsev tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wshivtsev keeping moving, preventing Michaels from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wshivtsev looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Michaels looking to pass the guard. Michaels throws a big right hand that misses.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Michaels throws a one two combo.
Wshivtsev looks to clinch and Michaels counters with a shoot takedown. Wshivtsev fights it but they end up in guard. Michaels is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wshivtsev is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wshivtsev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Michaels can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wshivtsev is looking for a triangle but Michaels pushes his legs off easily.

Michaels wants to control from the top but Wshivtsev keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wshivtsev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Wshivtsev tries for a takedown but Michaels circles away easily and Michaels moves into the clinch. Jackson Michaels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladsislas Wshivtsev.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Wshivtsev breaks the clinch.
Wshivtsev tries for a takedown but Michaels circles away easily and Michaels moves into the clinch. Wshivtsev misses with a punch to the body.
Wshivtsev gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Michaels.
Wshivtsev throws a knee to the head but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wshivtsev missing with knees to the body.
Wshivtsev tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Michaels just stands there and leans against the cage. Wshivtsev tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Michaels breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Wshivtsev misses with a takedown attempt and Michaels counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Michaels. Michaels wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wshivtsev has him pressed against the cage. Wshivtsev fails to pull guard.
Wshivtsev wants to get back to striking at distance but Michaels won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jackson Michaels dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Michaels throws a right and a left that both miss. Jackson Michaels is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wshivtsev gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Michaels counters with a single leg into guard. Wshivtsev didn't expect that. Wshivtsev keeping moving, preventing Michaels from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Michaels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Michaels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Michaels advances position into side control! Wshivtsev is looking to regain half guard here but Michaels keeps moving and retains side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wshivtsev gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Michaels blocks the strikes from Wshivtsev.
Michaels is looking to take a break and control but Wshivtsev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Michaels is really struggling to control Wshivtsev but he's trying to hold on to the position. Wshivtsev wants to get back to full guard but Michaels has mounted him! Michaels avoids the attempt from Wshivtsev to control. Michaels wants to take his opponent's back but Wshivtsev doesn't allow it. Michaels sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Wshivtsev manages to regain half guard. Good work. Michaels moves into full mount! Wshivtsev won't be happy about that!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wshivtsev tries to lock up and control but Michaels gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Wshivtsev is wriggling around trying to escape.
Michaels putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Wshivtsev is desperately trying to improve his position but Michaels has a good base and remains in mount. Wshivtsev is squirming around, avoiding Michaels's attempts to control the action. Wshivtsev is desperately trying to improve his position but Michaels has a good base and remains in mount. Wshivtsev has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Wshivtsev has hold of Michaels's leg, trying to break free but it's let Michaels lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Wshivtsev is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Michaels throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
