Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between george barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simppa Koivu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). barnett kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is cat scratch fever (cover) motorhead. Koivu has chosen Invincible Adelitas Way as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Simppa Koivu enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simppa Koivu!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koivu throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
barnett slips a jab and a cross from Koivu.
Nice defenses there by barnett.
barnett drives through with a takedown into guard.
barnett slips nicely into half guard.
barnett drops an elbow to the side of Koivu's head.
Koivu wants to improve his position but barnett is controlling well.
Koivu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
barnett preventing the sweep.
barnett trying to control but Koivu is working from the bottom.
Koivu is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
barnett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
barnett works over Koivu with some ground and pound from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Koivu had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. barnett is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Koivu Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take barnett's back instead.
Koivu gets his hands free as barnett looks to control.
barnett rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Koivu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so barnett is just riding it out for now. Koivu eventually gives up the hold.
Koivu is tying to control. barnett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Koivu takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
barnett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Koivu on the ground.
barnett throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
barnett tries to kick Koivu off but Koivu keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Koivu landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koivu tries to pass the half guard into mount. barnett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Koivu seems to be working for a kimura but barnett defends the submission attempt.
Koivu is working for a kimura but barnett is defending it quite comfortably.
Koivu looks gassed!
barnett is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Koivu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Koivu's back!
Koivu trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
barnett is hanging on to Koivu's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Koivu breaks barnett's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Koivu wants to control from the top but barnett keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
barnett throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Koivu postures up and lands a big shot to barnett's brow.
Koivu drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Koivu seems to have locked his on tight now - barnett screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Koivu, as he picks up the win!
