Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Chankin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andre Chankin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Lance Rock!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chankin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rock as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chankin is defended easily by Rock.
Chankin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rock paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rock closes the distance and clinches.
Chankin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rock's efforts to push away.
Chankin has Rock pushed against the cage.
Chankin wants to stall.

Chankin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chankin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rock pinned against the cage. Rock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Chankin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rock shoots in but no luck this time.
Chankin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rock forces Chankin back against the cage and clinches.

Rock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rock throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Chankin stands up from Rock's guard - Chankin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rock is looking to clinch but Chankin is avoiding it.

Chankin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rock connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Rock fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chankin to the ground. Rock is now in Chankin's guard.
Rock postures up.
Chankin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rock is controlling him.
Chankin looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chankin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Chankin is breathing heavily.
Rock looking to pass the guard.

Chankin looking for a guillotine here but Rock defends easily.
Chankin wants to sweep but no luck.

Rock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rock tries to free his leg and advance position but Chankin is retaining full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chankin is controlling Rock's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andre Chankin.
Chankin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rock throws a body kick that misses.

Rock dives in and grabs Chankin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chankin pushes down on Rock's head and hops out.

and Chankin counters with a nice leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chankin fails with a takedown attempt.
Rock displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chankin.

A close round but Lance Rock will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A looping hook to the body misses from Rock. Chankin does a little dance to reset his feet.
A solid leg kick lands there for Chankin.
Rock fails to land the takedown.
Rock looks to land a left hand but Chankin moved out of range nicely.
Rock misses with a low kick.
Rock with a nice cross.
Chankin has a takedown stuffed.

Chankin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chankin showed some decent athleticism there.
Rock wants to get back to full guard.
Rock is breathing heavily.

Chankin stalling.

Andre Chankin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Chankin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rock as he avoids it easily.

Rock fails with the takedown

and Chankin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chankin is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Rock is staying active underneath Chankin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rock wants to sweep but Chankin has passed to side control!
Chankin is looking to take a break and control but Rock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chankin in side control, throwing shots but Rock defends.
Chankin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Rock some visible discomfort.

Chankin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Chankin trying to control the position but Rock is working away.
Rock wants to control but Chankin postures up.

Rock tries to improve position but can't.
Chankin taking a breather here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rock looks to move to half guard but instead Chankin has passed into mount! Damn!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Chankin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Chankin tries to sprawl but Rock drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Rock tries to pass the half guard into mount. Chankin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Chankin wants to control but Rock is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Chankin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Rock is fighting to break Chankin's control of his arms but Chankin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Rock postures up.
Chankin keeping moving, preventing Rock from controlling successfully.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chankin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chankin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rock knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rock really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chankin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chankin wants to control the pace but Rock is squirming around nicely.
Rock tries to lock up and control but Chankin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The referee warns Rock that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
