The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Guarez as he avoids it easily. Ellis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Ellis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Guarez scores with a takedown into Ellis's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Guarez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Guarez with a nice head shot there. Guarez looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Guarez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Guarez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ellis is keeping the position for now. Guarez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Guarez stands up over Ellis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Guarez is looking for a kimura but Ellis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Guarez to get the leverage. Guarez is figuring out what he wants to do next. Guarez uses his free foot to push down on Ellis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ellis. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Guarez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guarez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ellis taking shots to the head. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Guarez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Guarez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Guarez get's back to his feet. Guarez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ellis to the ground. Guarez is now in Ellis's guard. Guarez works a leg free and moves into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Guarez winds up and cracks Ellis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guarez is controlling the pace.
Guarez works his way into side control. Guarez working the ground and pound. Guarez moves into full mount! Guarez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Guarez controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Guarez dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Guarez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ellis quickly recovers to half guard. Well, if Guarez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Guarez lands with a punch from half guard. Guarez winds up and cracks Ellis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Guarez moves nicely into side control. Guarez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ellis can do to turn this around? Guarez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ellis's shoulder. That is not cool. Guarez stands up and beckons Ellis to his feet. Guarez darts in and clinches Ellis up against the cage. Ellis is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guarez is pushing Ellis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Guarez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Guarez jumps into guard, dragging Ellis to the mat.
Guarez scores with a short punch from the bottom. Ellis looking to sit in guard and control but Guarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ellis can't keep his opponent in guard - Guarez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Nice strikes from Guarez there. Guarez content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guarez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Guarez looking to score a takedown here. Ellis is defending well but Guarez drives through and ends up in Ellis's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Guarez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ellis's head. Guarez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ellis, up you get! Guarez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Ellis wants to sweep but Guarez has passed to side control! Guarez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ellis tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guarez lands a nice forearm strike. Ellis is being controlled here. Guarez stands up and beckons Ellis to his feet. Ellis misses with a takedown attempt - Guarez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Guarez closes the distance and clinches. Guarez tightens his grip and picks Ellis up, before dumping him to the ground. Ellis manages to land in guard. Ellis looking for a sweep. Not yet Ellis, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guarez wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position. Guarez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Guarez preventing the sweep. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ellis tries to strike from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Guarez stands up from guard. Let's bang! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Guarez dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Ellis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Guarez lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Guarez decides to pull guard. Guarez seems keen to control Ellis's posture. Guarez wants to sweep here but Ellis controlling him for the moment. Guarez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Juan Guarez wasn't doing enough on the ground. Guarez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Guarez stands up out of the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guarez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Guarez gets a double leg takedown into Ellis's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ellis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Guarez wants to control but Ellis is keeping busy.
Guarez is staying active underneath Ellis, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ellis tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Guarez. Guarez manages to get to full guard.
Ellis wants to stand but Guarez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ellis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ellis being controlled here momentarily. Guarez trying to strike off his back.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Darius Ellis wasn't active enough on the ground. Guarez shoots in and bounces Ellis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Guarez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Guarez preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellis is trying to hold Guarez in close to prevent damage but Guarez has managed to pass into half guard.
Ellis is looking to get back to full guard here but Guarez has managed to pass to side control instead. Ellis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Guarez off and has taken his back! Guarez manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ellis's guard. Nice work there by Guarez.
Guarez won't allow Ellis to sweep him here. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Guarez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Darius Ellis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Juan Guarez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! Juan Guarez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Guarez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
