PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Wrassle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero comes into a darkened arena with his song building. José the Bronx Rican - Spittin' Narcicism kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Wrassle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Zero!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wrassle sprawls well. Wrassle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Zero gets slowly back to his feet.
Zero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wrassle avoids it really well and circles away.
Zero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zero shoots in and drives through. Wrassle sprawls well.
Joe Wrassle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Zero.
Zero swinging wildly here.

Zero gets caught flat footed, as Wrassle shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Zero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wrassle is aware though and is defending well.
Wrassle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Zero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wrassle is aware though and is defending well.

Wrassle wants to control from the top but Zero keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wrassle cracks Zero with a solid left hand.

Wrassle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zero on the ground.

Zero is looking for a triangle but Wrassle pushes his legs off easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wrassle is stalling in the full guard.

Wrassle throws a big right hand that misses.

Wrassle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wrassle has managed to get both his arms back between Zero's legs - danger averted.
Wrassle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Zero's head.

Zero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wrassle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wrassle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Zero looks gassed!

Zero has his foot on Wrassle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wrassle works his way back into a safe position though.
Wrassle connects with a couple of short punches.
Wrassle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Zero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wrassle's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Wrassle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zero can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wrassle controls the pace.
Wrassle wants to pass the guard but Zero is keeping the position.
Zero avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Wrassle wants to pass the guard but Zero is keeping the position.

Zero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wrassle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wrassle in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Wrassle is trying to get an arm triangle but Zero is defending well.
Wrassle cracks Zero with an elbow. That is naaassty.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Wrassle dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Wrassle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zero moves away.
Zero fails with the takedown.
Zero shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wrassle but Wrassle pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zero shoots in for a double leg but Wrassle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Joe Wrassle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Zero.
Horrible takedown by Zero or perhaps it was just good defense by Wrassle which made him look bad.

Wrassle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zero to the mat! Zero manages to get full guard.
Wrassle tries to free his leg and advance position but Zero is retaining full guard.
Wrassle is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Zero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wrassle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wrassle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wrassle lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Wrassle drops an elbow to the side of Zero's head.
Wrassle is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Zero looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wrassle stands and throws Zero's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Zero on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Wrassle trying to control the action but Zero is working from the bottom.

Wrassle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Zero is not content to let Wrassle control the position.
Zero is looking for a sweep.

Wrassle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zero, who protects the arm well.
Wrassle is looking to take a break and control but Zero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wrassle cracks Zero with a big elbow.
Zero pushes Wrassle away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wrassle gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Wrassle in side control lands a decent elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wrassle scores with a couple of short elbows.
Wrassle trying to control the position but Zero is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zero is trying to control Wrassle's posture but Wrassle avoids it.
Wrassle lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Zero down.
Zero is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Wrassle has just dragged him back down to the mat.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Zero tries to improve position but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wrassle landing strikes.
Wrassle cracks Zero with a big right hand but Zero just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Wrassle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zero's guard.

Zero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wrassle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wrassle wants to pass the guard but Zero is keeping the position.
Wrassle passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Joe Wrassle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wrassle looks up at the clock and then as Zero takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wrassle smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Zero tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wrassle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Wrassle cracks Zero with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Wrassle is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zero can do to turn this around?
Zero gets back to half guard.
Zero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wrassle winds up and cracks Zero with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Zero trying to control but Wrassle postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zero tries to kick Wrassle off but Wrassle keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Wrassle has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wrassle landing strikes from the mount and Zero is in trouble!
Zero takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Wrassle with shots to the head and body - Zero looks very uncomfortable down there.


Zero is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wrassle is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Zero goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Wrassle!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Wrassle!
