Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Knur ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Duarte! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duarte tries a head kick but it misses.
Duarte defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Knur . Knur is looking to clinch. Duarte throws a head kick that misses. Knur shoots in and drives through. Duarte sprawls well. Duarte throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Knur shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Duarte defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Knur . That's going to take a lot out of him. Duarte lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Duarte displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Knur . Duarte keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Duarte throws a head kick that Knur semi-blocks.

Duarte paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Duarte lands a head kick. Knur smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duarte keeps Knur at a distance using the push kick. Knur throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duarte's waist but Duarte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Knur off to one side. Duarte lands with a slapping head kick. Duarte pushes Knur away with a front kick. Knur closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Duarte to the mat! Duarte manages to get full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Duarte can do anything to dispel that myth. Knur trying to control the position from guard on top but Duarte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Duarte wants to stand and escape but Knur is having none of it. Duarte wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Knur manages to pass to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Knur is looking to take a break and control but Duarte is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knur is really struggling to control Duarte but he's trying to hold on to the position. Knur thumps the canvas. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Duarte is not content to let Knur control the position. Knur is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Knur is breathing heavily. Knur is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duarte trying desperately to get to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Knur jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Duarte manages to avoid the submission attempt. Duarte is trying to get back to his feet. Duarte is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Knur really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Knur has hold of Duarte's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Duarte tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Knur cranks the arm and Duarte screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Duarte, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
