Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Mattos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Mattos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Ventura! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ventura closes the distance and clinches up with Mattos, looking for a takedown. Ventura pushes Mattos against the cage but Mattos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mattos with a lazy takedown attempt and Ventura counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ventura trying to pass the guard but Mattos defending well. Mattos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ventura is working away from the top position though. Ventura wants to control but Mattos is keeping him busy. Mattos wants to control but Ventura is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mattos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ventura pulls his head out easily. Mattos moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Ventura looks gassed! Mattos is controlling Ventura's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mattos is looking to stand back up but Ventura counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mattos. Mattos looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mattos wants to control but Ventura is keeping busy.
Ventura prevents Mattos from improving his position. Ventura wants to take a breather but Mattos is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mattos is trying to stand.
Mattos is controlling Ventura's trapped leg to prevent Ventura from advancing to side control. Ventura wants to pass to mount but Mattos is defending the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mattos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mattos showed some decent athleticism there. Ventura tries to roll over but Mattos keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mattos slips a nice elbow through Ventura's hands, connecting with Ventura's forehead. Mattos is trying to control. Ventura wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mattos seems to be working for a kimura but Ventura defends the submission attempt. Mattos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Mattos misses with a head shot. Ventura uses the momentum to regain guard. Mattos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mattos is looking to stand up but Ventura won't let him. Ventura pushes Mattos off and gets back to his feet.
Ventura stuffs the takedown attempt from Mattos. Mattos gets slowly back to his feet. Ventura connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ventura fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Pedro Mattos will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mattos is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ventura sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ventura looks to land a combination but Mattos avoids it well. Ventura stuffs the takedown attempt from Mattos. Mattos gets slowly back to his feet. Ventura keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pedro Mattos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ventura is breathing heavily. Mattos shoots and misses and Ventura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mattos's guard now. Ventura engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ventura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mattos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ventura wants to pass the guard but Mattos is keeping the position. Mattos is looking to sinch up a triangle. Ventura throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mattos's body to avoid the submission. Mattos has instead reached around Ventura's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mattos arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
