Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maverick Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Slater! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slater shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Warner tries to lock up and control but Slater gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Slater with the ground and pound from mount. Slater lands a heavy elbow. Slater content just to control the position here. Slater is in the full mount, landing strikes. Slater content just to control the position here. Slater unloading with bombs! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slater dominating with strikes here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater controlling his opponent. Slater lands a big shot there that rocks Warner but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Slater seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Warner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Slater shoots in for a takedown but Warner shows good takedown defense.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Warner defends it nicely. Slater shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warner but Warner pushes him off and we're back to square one. Maverick Warner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Slater. Slater scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Slater takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Slater is looking to take a break and control but Warner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Warner postures up in Slater's guard and throws a big left but Slater blocks it. Warner is looking to work some ground and pound but Slater has wrist control. Warner trying to control the position from guard on top but Slater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slater fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Warner manages to avoid it. Warner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Slater lands a jab to the nose. Slater closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Slater lands with a punch from half guard. Slater takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Slater wants to control but Warner is keeping him busy. Warner wants to control but Slater is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Warner is looking to escape. Slater performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Slater throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Warner regains full guard. Nicely done. Slater postures up in Warner's guard and throws a big left but Warner blocks it. Slater controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Slater has a takedown stuffed. Warner lands with a right hand. Warner lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Maverick Warner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Warner darts in and out, connecting with a jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Slater scores with a takedown into Warner's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Warner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Slater trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Slater wants to control from the top but Warner keeps moving. Tom Slater has got the better of the ground game so far. Warner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Slater trying to control the position from guard on top but Warner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tom Slater wasn't active enough on the ground. Warner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Slater will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Slater showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Warner.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Slater has a takedown stuffed. Maverick Warner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Tom Slater showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Slater is trying hard to land a takedown here. Warner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Warner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Warner wants it to stay on the feet. Slater looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Warner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Tom Slater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Warner misses with a few strikes there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Slater gets the takedown into side control. Warner tries to improve position but can't. Slater wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warner keeps working. A lull in the action here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Warner is trying to control Slater's posture but Slater avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Warner is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Warner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Warner manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Slater is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Nice sprawl there from Warner as Slater shoots in. Left hook, right uppercut from Warner. Slater shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Warner's guard. Slater controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Slater trying to control the position from guard on top but Warner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Maverick Warner. I think Slater has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
