The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a right and a left that Sushi avoids nicely.
Sushi dodges the punch combination from Thompson.
Thompson closes the distance and clinches up with Sushi, looking for a takedown. Thompson pushes Sushi against the cage but Sushi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sushi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sushi wants it to stay on the feet.

Thompson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sushi's guard.

Thompson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sushi walks away with a smile on his face. Thompson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshi Sushi will probably get the nod.

That's time! Sushi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Sushi tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sushi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
