Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Duddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elliot Stabler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stabler has chosen Grown Men Don't Cry as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Elliot Stabler struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elliot Stabler! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stabler has taken the fight to the clinch.
Duddy jumps guard but Stabler stands there with Duddy around his waist. Duddy gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Stabler blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Elliot Stabler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Duddy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Duddy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stabler lands a couple of elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stabler with a flurry of punches that miss. Duddy controls Stabler momentarily but Stabler frees himself. Duddy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Duddy thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Stabler is working Duddy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Stabler throwing strikes from guard but Duddy blocks nicely. Duddy working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Stabler has passed into half guard!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stabler throws a strike but Duddy avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Stabler postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Duddy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Stabler advances to half guard. Stabler is keen to just control but Duddy is a slippery customer. Duddy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stabler pulls his head out easily. Duddy looking for submissions off his back. Stabler is trying to control the action in half guard but Duddy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Stabler throwing shots but Duddy is blocking nicely. Stabler working the head and body with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duddy holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Duddy regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Stabler. Duddy wants to sweep here but Stabler controlling him for the moment. Stabler chips away with some ground and pound. Stabler won't allow Duddy to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duddy working a defensive guard here.
Stabler distracts Duddy with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Stabler wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving. Stabler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duddy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Duddy wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stabler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Duddy's head. Stabler throwing strikes from guard but Duddy blocks nicely. Stabler lands a couple of elbows. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stabler loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Stabler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Stabler missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Duddy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Stabler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duddy swivels though and keeps the full guard. Duddy is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stabler has his hands clasped together but Duddy extends an breaks Stabler's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Duddy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Duddy! In his post fight interview, John Duddy started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
