PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Christian Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slaughter comes to the cage accompanied by The Crown - World Below. Escobar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Brujeria by La Coka Nostra. Christian Slaughter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Slaughter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slaughter throws a body punch but Escobar moves out of range.
Escobar fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Escobar throws a leg kick which misses Slaughter's front leg but catches the back leg as Slaughter tries to avoid it.
Escobar loads up on a big right hand but Slaughter slips the punch.
Escobar avoids the body shot from Slaughter.
Escobar misses with a low kick.
Slaughter thows a left - swing and a miss!
Slaughter misses with a hook.
Slaughter throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
The crowd cheers as Slaughter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Escobar doesn't seem phased though.
Escobar scores with a jab.
Slaughter wants to land a leg kick but Escobar is out of range.
Slaughter scores with a crisp jab that stopped Escobar in his tracks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Escobar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Slaughter throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Escobar sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Escobar tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Escobar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Slaughter tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Escobar is in Slaughter's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Slaughter is on top in guard.
Slaughter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Slaughter wants to control from the top but Escobar keeps moving.
Slaughter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Escobar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Escobar looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Slaughter passes into side control.

Escobar on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Slaughter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Escobar keeps working.
Escobar is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Christian Slaughter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slaughter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Escobar shoots in but Slaughter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Slaughter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Escobar has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Juan Escobar has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slaughter lands with a cross.
Escobar throws a lazy uppercut
and Slaughter counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Slaughter lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian Slaughter dominated that second round.

That's time! Slaughter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Slaughter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Escobars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Slaughter feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Escobar's calf.

Escobar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Slaughter throws a nice outside leg kick.
Escobar is still on wobbly legs! Can Slaughter finish him?
Nice uppercut lands for Slaughter. That snapped Escobar's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Slaughter turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Slaughter lands a nice hook to Escobar's body. Escobar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Slaughter cracks Escobar with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Escobar tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Slaughter pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Escobar is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christian Slaughter!
