Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Cooperman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tally Sedgewick! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sedgewick darts in and clinches Cooperman up against the cage. Cooperman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sedgewick walks into a jab. Cooperman misses the shot to the body. Cooperman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sedgewick at a distance.
Cooperman lands a head shot. Sedgewick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! No luck with that takedown attempt from Sedgewick. Cooperman jabs Sedgewick to the body, keeping him at a distance. Nice shot by Cooperman. Cooperman thuds his right hand into Sedgewick's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Cooperman scores with the left hand. Sedgewick knows he should have avoided that one. Sedgewick closes the distance and clinches up with Cooperman, looking for a takedown. Sedgewick pushes Cooperman against the cage but Cooperman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cooperman lands a slapping body shot.
Sedgewick looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Sedgewick closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Cooperman is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Sedgewick misses with a series of wild punches.
Cooperman lands a jab to Sedgewick's midsection. Cooperman lands with a cross. Cooperman lunges at Sedgewick with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sedgewick's hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cooperman ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Cooperman scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sedgewick doesn't seem bothered though. Sedgewick takes a shot right to the bread basket. Cooperman lands a jab to the head.
Sedgewick drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Sedgewick takes one on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooperman dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sedgewick takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sedgewick gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Sedgewick is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Cooperman scores with a nice strike. Sedgewick gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Sedgewick tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Cooperman is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Sedgewick buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Sedgewick!! Sedgewick is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Cooperman throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Max Cooperman!
