Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Orakpo! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown thuds his right hand into Orakpo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
It looks like Brian Orakpo has been cut. Tyler Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brown lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Orakpo sprawling to the canvas. Brown follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Orakpo hang on?
Orakpo is rocked! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Brown connects with a nice short shot to Orakpo's temple. Orakpo is still in real trouble! Can Brown finish him? Orakpo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Brown. Orakpo seems to have recovered his senses. Brown preventing the sweep. Orakpo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Orakpo wants to hit a switch here but Brown passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Orakpo there! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Orakpo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Brown looking to land elbow strikes but Orakpo uses the position to regain half guard. Orakpo controlling the position well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown is thwarting Orakpo's attempts to control the position. Orakpo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Brown. Orakpo keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully. Brown chips away with some ground and pound. Orakpo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Orakpo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Brown off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Brown tries for a takedown but Orakpo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Brown misses with a double jab
and Orakpo counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Brown trying to control but Orakpo postures up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Orakpo throwing shots but Brown is blocking nicely. Orakpo works his way into full mount! Orakpo pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
It looks like Tyler Brown has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Orakpo looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Brown covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
