Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Aquino looking to throw knees to the head but Connell is blocking nicely.
Aquino is trying to drag Connell to the mat but Connell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Connell tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Aquino's elbow.
Aquino lands a takedown into guard.

Connell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Aquino controls the pace.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Connell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Connell throws a leg kick but Aquino sees it coming and moves out of range.
Connell lands a two punch combo.
Connell tries to close the distance and clinch but Aquino swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Aquino loads up on a big right hand but Connell slips the punch.
Connell fails with the takedown.

Connell closes the distance and clinches up with Aquino, looking for a takedown. Connell pushes Aquino against the ropes but Aquino circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Aquino has taken the fight to the clinch.
Connell is trying to stall.

Aquino turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aquino has an Americana. Connell didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Aquino is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Aquino hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Manny Aquino!
