PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franz Mueller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Franz Mueller!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mueller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mueller scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Rollins?
Mueller with shots to the head and body - Rollins looks very uncomfortable down there.

Mueller sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Mueller throws some wild stikes that Rollins manages to avoid easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rollins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mueller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rollins has managed to get both his arms back between Mueller's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rollins passes into half guard.
Rollins controlling the action here.
Rollins is looking to advance position but Mueller won't allow it.

Rollins is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mueller sees it coming and defends easily.

Mueller wants to control the action here but instead Rollins manages to pass to full mount!

Mueller is looking to get to half guard.
Mueller has given up his back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Mueller's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Rollins is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Rollins trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Mueller doesn't escape.
Rollins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mueller can't escape the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Rollins controlling the positon.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rollins has good solid back control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stephen Rollins will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rollins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mueller throws a combination that misses

and Rollins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rollins advances to half guard.
Mueller tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mueller is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rollins pulls his head out easily.
Rollins tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mueller controls his leg.
Rollins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rollins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Mueller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rollins is working away from the top position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mueller regains half guard.
Mueller is breathing heavily.

Rollins lands with a slapping head kick.

Rollins has managed to clinch.
Mueller fails to pull guard.
A bit of stalling here from Rollins.
Mueller tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rollins just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Rollins blocks a punch to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rollins pulls Mueller in close to his closed guard and prevents Mueller from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mueller throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mueller throws a strike but Rollins rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rollins tries to free his leg and advance position but Mueller is retaining full guard.

Rollins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mueller uses from the top position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rollins holds on and takes a little breather.
Mueller postures up in Rollins's guard and throws a big left but Rollins blocks it.
Rollins wants to stand but Mueller is controlling the position.

Rollins has his feet on Mueller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mueller missing with a left hand there. Rollins was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Rollins dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Mueller gets tackled into the ropes by Rollins. Rollins maintains the clinch.

Mueller connects with a couple of short punches.
Stephen Rollins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mueller keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rollins's head.
Rollins is pulling down on Mueller's head. It's preventing any offense from Mueller, at least for the moment.

Mueller throws a sloppy strike and Rollins has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Mueller is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Rollins!
