PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Akira Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayabusa's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Viper!. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Hayabusa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matheus Silva!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hayabusa has a closed guard, preventing Silva from standing up.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hayabusa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hayabusa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hayabusa's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hayabusa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Hayabusa's legs - danger averted.

Hayabusa has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hayabusa throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Silva because Hayabusa loaded up on that one.

Silva wants to improve his position but Hayabusa is controlling well.

Hayabusa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hayabusa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Silva breaks from the clinch.
Silva throws the kick towards the body but Hayabusa avoids it.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Hayabusa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Hayabusa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Hayabusa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Hayabusa moves out of range easily.

Hayabusa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Silva wants to get up but he can't break Hayabusa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matheus Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Silva looks to land a combination but Hayabusa avoids it well.

Silva slips a jab from Hayabusa.

Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hayabusa tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.

Silva gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Silva throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Hayabusa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hayabusa.

Silva has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hayabusa to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Silva is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hayabusa pulls down on the head and he's put Silva to sleep! This one is all over!
